Ephesians 6v10-6v20 – The Armour of God

Mikko Wahlroos

I love this passage. Paul gives us a great advice how to stand in the battlefield of life. He lists the qualities that keep a diciple standing, when going gets rough. And he tells how to get them.

I really think this is one of the key passages that will keep us going in our walk with Jesus. Do read it again, I also recommend to check what Amplified Bible says about this.

Anyway, to the business:

God promises us his strength and his protection when we face different battles of life.

And this armour is assembled of qualities that Spirit develops in us when we spend time with him:
Readiness that comes from the gospel of peace (I understand this as confidence to step forward, that understanding the work of Jesus brings)
Faith (that will remind us how amazing and capable God is, and how true are his promises)
Salvation, and finally
God’s own word, that Holy Spirit uses in us (I believe this has something to do with hearing God’s voice, which I talked about last time I wrote, on day 31, 1 Sam 1-3)

With this gear we are in a good place to face the battles and uncertainties and attacks in life.

The key to this passage is v. 18, that reads:

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Prayer, talking to Jesus, spending time with him and seeking him and his will in our lives is the thing that will build up these qualities in our lives. When we start to realise who Jesus is and what he has done for us, we start to realise the opportunities and possibilities we have.

One thing you could do, is to pray every morning God to give you this armour to wear. What ever you need for your day, just pray for it!
